Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Container Ship, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently. The 2nd Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and work closely with other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel's engines and equipment, monitoring fuel consumption and optimizing engine performance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for supervising junior engineers and engine room crew members, and for maintaining accurate records of engine performance and maintenance activities. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in drills and training exercises to maintain emergency preparedness.

What we look for
- Must hold a relevant STCW/CoC certificate as a 2nd Engineer.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a container ship or similar vessel.
- Must have a strong understanding of engine maintenance and repair procedures.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must hold a valid medical certificate and be physically fit for duty at sea.
