Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Crude oil tanker, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel's machinery. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and experience working with large marine diesel engines. The 2nd Engineer will work closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure all engineering tasks are completed to a high standard.
The day-to-day duties of the 2nd Engineer include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel's engines, pumps, and other equipment. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for monitoring the vessel's fuel consumption and optimizing engine performance to reduce fuel costs. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will supervise junior engineering staff and provide guidance and training as needed.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid STCW Chief Engineer certificate of competency
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a tanker vessel
- Must have experience with large marine diesel engines and associated equipment
- Must have a strong understanding of engine performance optimization and fuel management
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
