Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior officer responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the engine department on a bulk carrier. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers. The Chief Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the vessel's engines and related systems are functioning efficiently and safely.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing routine maintenance, troubleshooting engine problems, and managing fuel consumption. They will also be responsible for training and supervising junior engineers and coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth vessel operations. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will be required to maintain accurate records of engine performance and maintenance activities.

What we look for
- A valid Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by a recognized maritime authority is required.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a bulk carrier or similar vessel type.
- Strong knowledge of engine maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- A valid STCW certificate, including proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats.
