Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a key member of the engine department on our Container Ship, responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the vessel's engines and related systems. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and leadership ability. The Chief Engineer will work closely with other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties will include overseeing routine maintenance and repairs, managing fuel consumption and emissions, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for training and supervising junior engineering staff and managing the engine department's budget. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will be required to respond to emergencies and make critical decisions to ensure the safety of the vessel and its crew.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer's STCW certificate of competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a similar type of vessel.
- Must have a strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair procedures.
- Must be able to work independently and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations.
- Must be proficient in English and able to communicate effectively with crew members and shore-based staff.
