Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Container Ship, responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the vessel's main and auxiliary machinery. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the captain and other department heads to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include planning and scheduling maintenance, supervising engine room operations, and troubleshooting mechanical issues. They will also be responsible for managing fuel consumption, monitoring vessel performance, and implementing cost-saving measures. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, such as those related to pollution prevention and waste management.

What we look for
- Relevant STCW/CoC certificate as Chief Engineer
- At least 2 years of experience as Chief Engineer on a similar type of vessel
- Strong knowledge of marine engineering principles and practices
- Ability to lead and manage a team of engineers
- Valid medical certificate and ability to pass a drug test
