The Chief Engineer will be the senior technical officer on a double‑hull crude oil tanker, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all main and auxiliary machinery. He/she will lead the engine department, ensure compliance with classification societies and flag state regulations, and oversee maintenance planning for the vessel’s propulsion and cargo handling systems.
Day‑to‑day duties include supervising the engine crew, monitoring plant performance, and conducting routine inspections of pumps, compressors and generators. The role requires troubleshooting mechanical failures, managing spare parts inventory, and preparing technical reports for the shipowner. The Chief Engineer also coordinates dry‑dock surveys and ensures all statutory surveys are completed on schedule.

Requirements
- OK- STCW 2/2 and Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (Oil Tanker) valid for a vessel of 5,000 GT and above
- OK- Minimum 5 years recent experience as Chief Engineer on a crude oil tanker or similar bulk carrier
- OK- Proven knowledge of IMO 2020, MARPOL Annex I and II, and classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV)
- OK- Strong leadership and crew‑management skills, with ability to train junior engineers
- OK- Good command of English, both written and spoken
