Role overview

The Chief Officer is a senior crew member on a Very Large Gas Carrier, responsible for overseeing cargo operations and deck maintenance. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations. The Chief Officer will work closely with the Master and other crew members to achieve this goal.

The Chief Officer's day-to-day duties include supervising cargo loading and discharging, performing safety drills and training, and maintaining accurate records of cargo and deck operations. They will also be responsible for conducting regular inspections of the vessel's deck and cargo equipment to identify and address any maintenance or repair needs. Additionally, the Chief Officer will participate in navigation and watchkeeping duties as required.
