The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the overall operation, maintenance and performance of the main and auxiliary machinery on a dry‑bulk vessel. You will ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and company policies while optimizing fuel consumption and engine efficiency. The role includes supervising the engine department and reporting directly to the Master.

Daily duties involve planning and executing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns, and managing spare parts inventory. You will lead the engine crew in watch‑keeping, monitor plant performance, and keep detailed logs and reports. Coordination with the deck department for cargo operations and ballast management is also required.

Requirements

  • OK**
  • OK- Valid Chief Engineer’s Certificate of Competency (STCW) for a bulk carrier of 10,000 GT or more.
  • OK- Minimum 5 years recent experience as Chief Engineer on a bulk carrier.
  • OK- Proficiency with diesel engine control systems, fuel oil management and emission regulations.
  • OK- Strong leadership skills and ability to train junior engineers.
  • OK- Good command of English; Russian language skills are an advantage.
