The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the overall operation, maintenance and safety of the main and auxiliary machinery on a 200,000‑dwt crude oil tanker. You will lead the engine department, ensure compliance with classification societies and flag state regulations, and oversee all technical documentation.

Daily duties include planning and supervising daily maintenance, monitoring plant performance, and troubleshooting any mechanical failures that arise at sea. You will manage the engine crew, conduct drills, and ensure all safety and pollution prevention equipment is serviceable. Reporting to the Master and company technical office, you will prepare technical reports and coordinate repairs during port stays.

Requirements

  • OK- Valid Chief Engineer 1st Class Certificate of Competency (STCW) for tankers.
  • OK- Minimum 3 years recent experience as Chief Engineer on a crude oil tanker of 150,000 dwt or larger.
  • OK- Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF) and Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSC) certificates.
  • OK- Current Medical Fitness Certificate and Seafarer’s Identity Document.
  • OK- Proven ability to lead a multicultural engine crew and manage preventive maintenance programs.
