The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the overall operation, maintenance and performance of the main and auxiliary plant on a modern LNG carrier. You will lead the engine department, ensure compliance with class and flag regulations, and optimise fuel consumption while maintaining strict safety standards.

Day‑to‑day duties include supervising the engine crew, planning and executing planned maintenance systems, troubleshooting plant faults, and coordinating with the bridge during cargo operations. You will prepare technical reports, manage spare‑parts inventory, and oversee the implementation of condition‑based monitoring tools. All work must be documented in accordance with the ship’s Quality Management System.

Requirements

  • OK- Valid Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (COC) with STCW endorsement, approved for LNG carriers
  • OK- Minimum 5 years sea service as Chief Engineer or Senior Engineer on LNG or gas carriers
  • OK- Completed LNG Carrier Specific Training (e.g., IMO MSC.1/Circ.736, LNG cargo handling)
  • OK- Proficiency in condition‑based monitoring systems and advanced engine control software
  • OK- Strong leadership, communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural crew
