The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a General Cargo Vessel, responsible for maintaining and operating the ship's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently. The 2nd Engineer will also assist the Chief Engineer in managing the engine department.

The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the ship's engines and equipment, monitoring fuel consumption and optimizing engine performance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for supervising junior engineers and motormen, and for maintaining accurate records of engine performance and maintenance activities. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in drills and training exercises to ensure preparedness for emergencies.

Requirements

  • OKMust hold a relevant STCW/CoC certificate as a 2nd Engineer.

  • OKMust have a strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair procedures.
  • OKMust be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • OKMust have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
