Daily tasks involve routine inspection of generators, propulsion motors, and cargo monitoring equipment, performing repairs on power distribution panels, and supporting the bridge team with navigation electronics. The ETO also manages spare parts inventory and prepares technical reports for the chief engineer.

Requirements

  • OKSTCW 1995, 2nd Class Engine Officer Certificate (or equivalent)
  • OKMinimum 2,000 hrs sea service as 2nd Engineer or 1,500 hrs as 3rd Engineer on oil tankers
  • OKKnowledge of crude oil cargo handling, tank cleaning, and inert gas systems
  • OKCurrent medical fitness certificate and drug test clearance
  • OKStrong communication skills, ability to work in a multicultural crew, basic computer literacy for engine monitoring
